Armenian Village

The Armenian Village at Brantford’s International Villages Festival offered visitors the opportunity to step into the rich and storied heritage of the Armenian people. Displays featured Armenia's history, from its biblical roots as the land of Ararat to its survival under the rule of empires like the Babylonians, Persians, and Turks. A statue of David in Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, stood as a lasting symbol of the resilience celebrated at the event. Visitors could explore exhibitions that included ancient maps of Armenia, a display of the Armenian alphabet created by Mesrop Mashtots, and art and crafts made by local Armenian artists. The event also featured nightly performances by folk dancers dressed in colorful costumes, recreating traditional Armenian steps passed down through generations. Guests were invited to join in the dancing and enjoy authentic Armenian cuisine, such as shish kebab, dolma, and katah.
